Choosing Joy as a Personal Brand Image: How Your Values Guide You to a More Authentic Life

Hello Everyone! It‘s me, Lisa-Marie, and I‘m really excited to finally launch my first blog post of tricks and inspiration to help you build an awesome Personal Brand Image and create a YOU that is ALWAYS exciting!

These past weeks, I have been busy fulfilling those new years resolutions I made a few months back. I decided awhile ago to no longer make the typical, widely accepted and often broken plethora of New Years Resolutions a part of mine (lose weight, excersize, make a chajillion dollars) and instead I’ve adopted a new resolution: Joy.

And what does this mean? This means that if whatever I‘m doing, eating, drinking, thinking or someone I‘m meeting does NOT bring me JOY, that I stop it and move to something that does.

Some examples? Some of the things that didn‘t bring me joy were:
Eating large amounts of leftover christmas candy. So I threw it away (and felt joyful in doing so)
Thinking about things that annoyed me intensely.So I stopped (and started meditation instead)
Spending time/talking on the phone with chronic complainers. So I cancelled & declined (Joy!!!)

How does all of this relate to my Personal Brand Image?
I always look at how my actions affect my value system, which is at the core of the Personal Brand. Some of my values: I care about my body and health. I care about positive thinking and projecting a positive vibe. I care about surrounding myself with inspiring people that are a joy to be around.

Because I didn‘t engage in those above mentioned non-motivational activities, my life was filled with a LOT more Joy! And because I felt joyful, I was able to come across to others as a more balanced and positive person- something really important to have in my line of work.

So how do you know if you are following your values? Here‘s how: When making a decision, ask yourself if it falls in the guidelines of your own value system.

Need an example? Let‘s say Balance is very important to you and in order to help maintain this, you meditate or excersize every morning. You have set aside a period of time to make this happen. If something should come up that is not important or urgent that threatens to disrupt this personal time of yours, saying ,No‘ to that disruptor is the best way to live by your values. By being true to yourself, you instantly make more space for joy and lead a more authentic life. And this, in turn, creates a stronger Personal Brand.

I encourage you to do the same and allow yourself to feel more regular amounts of Joy too! You deserve it!

Website: Hannah Braime has a wonderful website full of fantastic information if you are on the road to inner transformation. I especially like her e-book Discovering Your Values. Sign up for her library and get access to the information.

The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. I actually listened to this one on Audible. It’s a great way to discover how you can live your life with more Joy and authenticity.

Tribe of Mentors by Tim Ferriss. He is the number one podcaster in the world with The Tim Ferriss Show and this book has distilled much of the knowledge of his guests into a fantastic inspirational masterpiece. Get it. (Tim, I‘m your biggest fan)

L‘oreal/Rowenta Steampod hairstraightening iron. Go check it out on Youtube. It makes curly hair straight without the roundbrush blow-out beforehand. Saves time and nerves (and sore arm muscles!). I am a total junkie for this thing.
